Job Purpose
Perform, supervise, and certify structural maintenance tasks including repairs/modifications, installation/ replacements, inspections, and defect rectifications, on Airline and Third-Party aircraft in accordance with approved standards, regulatory requirements, and airline maintenance procedures. The role is responsible for technical oversight of shop activities, ensuring the airworthiness of serviced aircraft structures, and issuing Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for completed maintenance on structural parts.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Performs and certify scheduled and unscheduled aircraft structure or structural parts maintenance, including inspections, testing, repairs, and replacements in line with approved maintenance data.
- Issues Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for structural parts upon satisfactory completion of maintenance and verification against regulatory and organizational standards.
- Reviews work instructions, task cards, and maintenance schedules to plan, allocate, and oversee shop activities ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
- Provides technical guidance, and supervision to certifying technicians and shop technicians, ensuring tasks are performed to the required standard and in accordance with procedures.
- Investigates and resolves technical issues, performing root cause analysis for recurring defects and coordinating with Engineering and Quality Assurance for corrective actions.
- Records all maintenance actions, defect findings, and parts usage in the system accurately, ensuring documentation is complete, traceable, and meets regulatory requirements.
Key Result Responsibilities - Continued
- Ensures availability and readiness of shop stock, tools, and equipment in compliance with approved standards and operational demands.
- Manages resource utilization to minimize waste and control maintenance costs.
- Enforces strict adherence to safety precautions, human factors principles, and published maintenance procedures before, during, and after task execution to protect personnel, equipment, and maintain operational safety.
- Maintains effective communication and coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Procurement, and operational teams to ensure seamless maintenance operations and on-time component availability.
- Presents a professional, technically competent image of the airline in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory representatives, and customers.
- Contributes to the capability building & continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, processes, and shop practices to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
- Deputize for the Shop Supervisor/Lead Engineer as needed.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Structural/Airframe discipline), or equivalent technical discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft structure maintenance, applicable regulations, and safety standards.
- Strong troubleshooting, inspection, and diagnostic skills.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage technical teams, enforce standards, and resolve operational issues under time constraints.
- Proficient in computer literacy & using Maintenance & Engineering software systems for documentation, component tracking, and task management.
- Physically fit and able to work in various operational conditions (e.g., confined spaces, outdoor environments).
- Ability to work in rostered shifts based on operational requirements
Work Experience
- OEM or equivalent certification for Sheet metal parts /Structure is mandatory
- Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably Airbus types, of which at least 2 years in a certifying or supervisory capacity.
