Junior/ Trainee - Flight Data Monitoring

Job Purpose

To implement, monitor and maintain the “assigned safety functions” related to “Air Arabia Safety Management System” in the respective areas of operation; utilizes “Safety Reports” to generate needed statistics in line with the Airline adopted policies and procedures.

Supports the coordination, collection, transcription, analysis, and dissemination of digitally recorded flight data to relevant stakeholders within the Airline Head Quarters and Hubs.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks related to the FDM system. 
  • Coordinate with HUBS to collect the flight data to maintain the flight data retrieval. 
  • Liaison with Stakeholders such as the IT Department and the Flight Data Monitoring software technical support.
  • If required, assist in Review and revision of the FDM programme in accordance with the regulatory, IOSA and company requirements.
  • Process the flight data, Validate the exceedances / RED events in coordination with the Flight Safety Officer . Ensure timely closure of all such events.
  • As and when required share the Alerts/ RED event details with the concerned department for their required actions.
  • Maintain a log of all event debriefings conducted by the Flight Safety Officers for proper documentation and tracking.
  • Prepare for and facilitate the quarterly FDM meetings with Flight Operations Department ensuring preparation of presentations, minutes the meetings and closure for the recommended actions to be taken.
  • Participates in the elaboration of required FDM reports for the SAG / SRB meetings.
  • Gather and support in the flight data analysis reports for incidents investigation.
  • Facilitate GCAA, internal, IOSA FDM Audits till timely closure of the findings/ observations.
  • Proposes and participates in the publications of Safety Alerts/ Safety notices based on the quantitative/ qualitative Flight data analysis, external sources of information like GCAA. 
  • Participate in safety meetings, as and when required.
  • Gather and provide significant RED event data for Risk register.
  • Action the Air safety reports (ASR’s) in coordination with SMS administrator.
  • Supports the safety team in SMS task/ daily work whenever needed and provides a backup role to the SMS administrator.
  • Maintain all records pertaining to FDM program.

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace engineering from a recognized university or institute. 
  • Holding a valid CPL is an advantage.
  • SMS, FDM, Audit / Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value for this role.
  • Proficient in Google Office Applications and Microsoft Office. Expert in Excel, Graphics and Power Point. 
  • Skilled report writing is an advantage.
  • Very good command over written and verbal English communication skills.

Work Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in the Airlines/Aviation industry mid-sized company;
  • Minimum of 1 years in the “Safety Department” in a similar capacity is required for this role. 
  • Familiar with rules and regulations pertaining to Airline / Aviation Safety.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals, documents, and regulations pertaining to operational areas. 
  • Must be able to analyse data and reports to generate statistics and graphics.
  • Experienced in implementation and maintenance of aviation related documentation and reports.
  • working experience and exposure to Quality Assurance / Internal & External Audit practices will be an advantage 
  • Proven skills in analysing data, identifying pitfalls and recommending effective solutions. 
  • High accuracy and attention to both results and details.
