Job Purpose
- Manager - Crew Training is responsible to lead and manage the Airline’s Flight Crew Training programs and services.
- He/she shall ensure that all trainings are designed, delivered, checked and assessed as per Company’s policies and procedures, approved quality standards and civil aviation set measures and regulation as per OM-D/A.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Sets the strategy for the Crew professional and technical training throughout the entire network; oversees the training programs including “SEP”, Safety and Survival, (CRM) Crew Resource Management, Human Factors, and Simulator training as well as applicable checks.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders to plan, manage and monitor the design and delivery of short/long term training plans and programs; monitors compliance with operational standards, respective Civil Aviation Authority, IOSA and other regulatory bodies’ requirements in the training programs planned and delivered.
- Manages the selection, performance and evaluation of the right manpower to deliver professional training; ensures the availability of competent Training Specialists, Instructors and Examiners to manage the training and evaluation programs.
- Leads the on-going development of the training team and the training activities ensuring best results are achieved.
- Establishes standardization in training methodologies, procedures and programs across the hubs with focus on legality, quality, creativity, and efficiency in transferring skills and knowledge to learners.
- Acts proactively to monitor internal and external audit requirements and checks; ensures compliance of the department with the approved quality and regulatory measures and standards.
- Develops and oversees the training processes, procedures, training facilities, resources, equipment and tools all in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and respective Civil Aviation regulations.
- Partners with QA to review, implement, and communicate function-related manuals and operating procedures, including the development and amendment of (Operations Manual Part D) content.
- Oversee the initial and on-going qualification and licensing of pilots, post-training assessments of competency-based trainings of the different nature (technical/non-technical).
- Evaluates reports and assessments received from Instructors; identifies problems and implements corrective measure as needed.
- Establishes/invests on effective relationships both internally with the department Heads, and externally with IOSA, respective Civil Aviation Authority, regulatory bodies, training vendors, and customer airlines.
- Manage the contracts and SLAs with external parties, as applicable, ensuring cost-effectiveness, ROI, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Works closely with Head of Flight Operations to plan, execute and monitor the Crew Training Budget ensuring cost-effective training been provided; manages all costs and expenses accordingly
- Conducts periodic reviews to ensure all personal data and training records, manuals, documents, and publications are maintained, and archived to be accessible by authorized when needed.
- Coordinates with HR Department on all HR-related activities for the training team such as manpower, performance, attendance, leave, etc.
- Represents the Airline on both national and international events, conferences, training forums, and conventions; chairs the training and selection review boards.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
- Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is required for this role. Current on Airbus 320 with at least 2 years training experience as check airman or examiner
- Bachelor's degree Management or equivalent is preferred.
- Professional membership of associations related to the Aviation/Airlines industry would be an advantage.
- Capable of using technology systems & tools.
- Fluent in English Language (Arabic is Plus).
Work Experience
- Minimum three years of experience in flight deck crew training function in an airline as a Manager Crew Training or an equivalent Managerial role.
- Possesses reasonable knowledge in the respective Civil Aviation Authority rules and regulations pertaining to flight and cabin services, licensing and working procedures.
- Experienced in leading and developing a team of training professionals and instructors.
- Great exposure on current developments and trends in the field of airport/ airline operations.
- Proven skills in analyzing data, identifying pitfalls and recommending cost-effective solutions.
- Effective persuasive, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experienced in designing, delivering and evaluating training courses to cater to business needs.
- Working exposure to internal/external audit practices is preferable.
- Familiar with SMS and Quality Assurance System.
Note: Preference will be given to Saudi National Candidates.
