Technical Product Owner

Job Purpose

The Technical Product Owner is responsible for defining and managing the technical aspects of the product roadmap, ensuring that the technical team delivers solutions that meet the business requirements and strategic objectives. This role involves working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements, and ensuring that the product development aligns with the overall vision and goals.

Key Result Responsibilities

1.    Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
2.    Develop and maintain a product roadmap with a focus on technical features and improvements.
3.    Ensure that technical decisions align with the product vision and strategic goals.
4.    Work with business analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather and document technical requirements.
5.    Prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on business value, technical feasibility, and stakeholder input.
6.    Create and manage user stories, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria.
7.    Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that it is up-to-date and reflects the current business and technical priorities.
8.    Ensure that the backlog is well-defined and ready for development sprints.
9.    Act as a liaison between the technical team and business stakeholders, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment on technical requirements.
10.    Work closely with engineering teams to understand technical constraints and opportunities and incorporate them into the product planning process.
11.    Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and sprint planning sessions.
12.    Monitor the progress of development activities and ensure that technical deliverables meet the defined requirements and quality standards.
13.    Provide guidance and clarification to the development team throughout the sprint cycle.
14.    Conduct reviews and validation of technical solutions, ensuring they align with the business objectives.
15.    Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on product development, technical progress, and potential risks or issues.
16.    Facilitate meetings and presentations to ensure alignment and gather feedback from stakeholders.
17.    Ensure that technical solutions meet the required quality standards and performance benchmarks.
18.    Work with QA teams to define test cases, review test results, and address any issues that arise during testing.
19.    Analyse product performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
20.    Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance product offerings.
21.    Performs any other additional duties as directed by the Product Manager/Senior Product Manager

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

-    Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Engineering/Computer Science/Math or equivalent.
-    Certified SCRUM Master or Professional Certified Product Owner (Optional)
-    Solid technical background with understanding in software development.
-    Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Slack, JIRA.
-    Fluent in English Language.
 

Work Experience

-    3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role with a strong technical background.
-    Proficiency in technical concepts, software development methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum), and familiarity with relevant technologies and tools.
-    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts.
-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-    Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive technical projects to successful completion.
-    Ability to balance multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
-    Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
-    A proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues before they impact the product.
